LeBlanc: 'Episodes character is not me'

Matt LeBlanc has insisted that the version of himself he plays in upcoming Showtime sitcom Episodes does not reflect his real personality. The former Friends star told reporters at the Television Critic's Association press tour that the 'Matt LeBlanc' character is a mostly fictional creation. "It's not really myself, I guess," he explained. "It's just a character that [they] wrote that happens to have the same name as me. There are some similarities, but for the most part, it's a fictitious character. "

James Remar confirms return to 'Dexter'

Dexter star James Remar has revealed that his character Harry Morgan will continue to haunt his serial killing son in the show's upcoming fifth season. Speaking to IGN, the actor insisted that the deceased Harry, who appears as a ghostly figure, will guide Dexter (Michael C. Hall) through his emotional struggle after the murder of his wife Rita (Julie Benz). "Let's just say that Harry never abandons Dexter," said Remar.

Affleck's Lawyer Files 'Extortionate' Email

The producer suing Casey Affleck for sexual harassment has been accused of withholding "key production documents" from her bosses while trying to negotiate a higher salary, according to new legal filings.

Affleck is being sued for $2 million (£1.3 million) by Amanda White, a producer on his documentary I'm Still Here, which follows actor Joaquin Phoenix's attempts to launch a rap career.

In a new court submission, Affleck's attorney Marty Singer claims White refused to hand over important paperwork until her contract was finalised, describing her move as "extortionate".

Singer includes an email in which White appears to want to renegotiate her salary.

In the email to Affleck, dated 12 April, White allegedly writes, "I really feel that in good faith, the documents you refer to are my work product, so I would prefer to hold them in trust until we can get the matter of my deal resolved."

An attorney defending White claims the papers in question were "insignificant and not needed for months".

Ruffalo Has 'Big Shoes To Fill' Replacing Pal Norton

Mark Ruffalo hopes there are no hard feelings with his Hulk predecessor Edward Norton, insisting his pal's public exclusion from The Avengers wasn't "a great way" to kick off the project.

Fans were left stunned when Marvel Studios bosses announced last month that Norton, who played Dr. Bruce Banner and his monstrous alter-ego in 2008's The Incredible Hulk, would not star in the upcoming superhero movie.

A statement declared he would be replaced by an actor who "embodies the creativity and collaborative spirit of our other talented cast members".

Ruffalo was confirmed as the new Hulk as the The Avengers line-up appeared at the Comic-Con event last week - but he admits he regrets the way the situation unfolded.

He tells EW.com, "I'm a friend of Ed's, and yeah, that wasn't a great way for all that to go down. But the way I see it is that Ed has bequeathed this part to me. I look at it as my generation's Hamlet."

Fallon's Show Facing Sexual Discrimination Claims

TV bosses behind Jimmy Fallon's U.S. talk show are facing allegations of sexual discrimination from a former employee who claims he was demoted and eventually dismissed because the presenter prefers working with women.

Veteran stagehand Paul Tarascio spent 14 years working on Late Night With Conan O'Brien before Fallon took over the slot in 2009.

Tarascio has filed a complaint with America's Equal Employment Opportunity Commission alleging he was demoted shortly after the show changed format and replaced by a "less qualified woman".

He also claims Late Night With Jimmy Fallon's director, David Diomedi, told him at the time, "You know Jimmy. He loves his women."

Tarascio complained to his union reps and claims the atmosphere on set then became hostile and just two weeks later he was fired.

Michael Lohan Wants Attorney General To Investigate Lindsay's Doctors

Lindsay Lohan's father is urging California's Attorney General to investigate the doctors who he alleges "overprescribe" pills for his troubled daughter.

Michael Lohan is convinced the Mean Girls star has become dependent on medication and he's compiled a list of physicians he claims are responsible - and he wants California's Attorney General Jerry Brown to question them.

In a letter sent to Brown, obtained by TMZ.com, Lohan and his lawyer Lisa Bloom "respectfully request an investigation" into the "unscrupulous doctors" who "overprescribe medications to (Lohan)... in violation of California law".

Lohan also claims his daughter has found a "giant legal loophole" to obtain her medications.

A recently leaked probation report revealed the actress regularly medicates anxiety and depression with a cocktail of painkillers and has been on the same prescriptions "for as long as she can remember".

Fishburne's Daughter In Sex Tape?

Laurence Fishburne's teenage daughter has reportedly filmed a part in an explicit adult film in a bid to break into Hollywood.

The Matrix star's 19-year-old daughter Montana Fishburne is said to be hoping to make a name for herself with her sex tape, citing socialite Kim Kardashian as her inspiration.

Kardashian is widely known for an intimate home movie she and her ex-boyfriend, singer Ray J, filmed together.

Celebrity website TMZ.com quotes Fishburne as saying, "I've watched how successful Kim Kardashian became and I think a lot of it was due to the release of her sex tape."

Reid Back On With Ex-fiance Axtmann?

Tara Reid's relationship with ex-fiance Michael Axtmann appears to be back on after the couple was spotted partying together in St. Tropez, France.

The American Pie star became engaged to the businessman in January but she called off their nuptials in April.

But the pair has seemingly reunited - and they made their reignited romance public for all to see as they walked hand-in-hand at a yacht party in the south of France on Wednesday.

They then attended another event on Thursday, where Reid was spotted sitting on the internet entrepreneur's lap as they enjoyed drinks on another yacht in the French Riviera.

Streep Belted Out Abba At Blunt's Wedding

Meryl Streep joined in the celebrations at Emily Blunt's recent wedding by teaming up with the bride and groom's mums to sing Abba songs.

Blunt tied the knot with actor John Krasinski in a lavish ceremony earlier this month in the grounds of George Clooney's Lake Como villa in Italy.

Clooney, who directed Krasinski in Leatherheads, hosted the reception, which the happy couple shared with stars including Matt Damon, Bill Nighy and Blunt's The Devil Wears Prada co-star Streep.

And Streep wasn't afraid to let loose at the party on a cruise around Lake Como, bonding with both Blunt and Krasinski's mums.

A source tells Britain's Daily Express, "On board they were playing Abba songs and Meryl volunteered to sing along with Joanna, Emily's mum, and John's mother Mary Clare to the song Mamma Mia! She had her arms around them belting out the songs."

Efron Asked Hudgens' Permission For Strip Club Outing

Zac Efron endured an "awkward" telephone call with his girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens this weekend (24-25Jul10) - when the actor asked her permission to go to a strip club.

The clean-cut Disney star hit headlines this week (beg26Jul10) when it was revealed he spent Sunday night surrounded by semi-naked women at a raunchy bar in New York City.

Efron admits he was nervous about calling his longtime partner and High School Musical co-star Hudgens to tell her about his planned outing, and he was relieved when the actress gave him permission to go.

He tells U.S. talk show host Jimmy Kimmel, "The hardest thing was calling your girlfriend before. That's the awkward part. How do you even start that conversation without feeling like a total a**hole? (But) she was fine with it."

Faster – International Trailer

Dwayne Johnson has ditched the family movie shtick to play a man seeking revenge for the death of his brother in Faster. Now normally you’d think wrestlers turning to the acting world would be the worst decision to make since Archduke Franz Ferdinand fancied a drive through Sarajevo back in 1914.

Alas, the trailer for this movie looks brilliant. It feels like a movie from another era. Perhaps something directed by ‘Bloody’ Sam Peckinpah or starring Lee Marvin, back in the day. Mixing fast cars, guns and machismo Faster looks very cool.

Reliance Bringing Universal Studios Theme Parks To India?

The Wall Street Journal reports that Reliance Ada Group is negotiating with Universal Studios to replicate its movie-themed amusement parks in India. The result would be a $1.5 billion new park that covers 400 acres --in either New Delhi or Mumbai--and would combine Universal park attractions with others devoted to Bollywood films. Universal would take a licensing fee for its branded attractions that include themed attractions involving such Marvel Comics characters as Spider-Man, The Hulk and Doctor Doom--deals made well before theme park rival Disney bought Marvel--as well as Dr. Seuss attractions. There are also the venerable rides based on the films of Reliance's DreamWorks partner Steven Spielberg--who gets a cut of theme park receipts--with Jaws, E.T. and Jurassic Park.

New Cyrus Quad Poster

No, not Miley Cyrus, this is 'Cyrus', as in John C. Reilly meets Jonah Hill in a battle of wills, and, presumably, hair, and we've got a world exclusive poster to show you from it.The story revolves around Reilly's character, called, um, John, meeting the utterly amazingly gorgeously wonderul Molly (Marisa Tomei) and her... more than a bit weird son, Cyrus (Jonah Hill). And they don't get along so well, it's fair enough to say. Fights will be had, embarrassment will be endured, and things will probably get broken. Families, eh?The tagline on this poster is: 'Dream woman. Nightmare son' which succinctly sums up the situation, but not as well as the other poster we've seen of it (which you can see in the new issue coming out next week) which says: 'Seriously, don't f**k his mom'.Tagline of the year, anyone?

Jon Hamm: My Girlfriend Is the 'Love of My Life'

Jon Hamm may drink, smoke and cheat as his Mad Men alter ego Don Draper, but offscreen he's nothing like the womanizing ad executive.

"[I'm] able to leave Don Draper at work," the actor, 39, tells this Sunday's Parade magazine. "I'm quite dissimilar from him in real life."

Case in point: He's quite content in his love life with longtime girlfriend, writer-actress Jennifer Westfeldt (Kissing Jessica Stein), 40. While admitting that he doesn't have what he calls the "marriage chip," Hamm does gush about his girl.

"Jen is the love of my life," he says, "and we've already been together four times longer than my parents were married."

In fact, it was Hamm's late father, Daniel Hamm, who passed away from diabetes and poor health when Hamm was only 20, who inspired his Emmy-nominated portrayal of dapper Don.

"[His] smoking, drinking and hard-living ways are pretty much my model for Don Draper," Hamm says, adding that his parents' deaths (his mother Deborah died from cancer when he was 10) also inspires his zest for life.

"Losing both parents at a young age gave me a sense that you can't really control life – so you'd better live it while it's here," he says. "I stopped believing in a storybook existence a long time ago. All you can do is push in a direction and see what comes of it."

Ellen DeGeneres Votes Herself Off 'American Idol'

Ellen just tweeted, "Dim the lights ... I've voted myself off American Idol."

Ellen claims she came to her decision, "a couple months ago" -- and admits, "It was hard for me to judge people and sometimes hurt their feelings."

She concludes, "I am very grateful for the year I had. I am a huge fan of the show and will continue to be."

UPDATE: TMZ has confirmed reports that "Idol" is tapping Jennifer Lopez. We're told the ink may not be dry on the deal yet, but J.Lo is definitely the pick ... and the deal is all tied to Ellen's departure.

Karyn Kusama is looking to follow up Jennifer's Body, which she directed from Diablo Cody's script, with The Rut, a film about a father and daughter who have a relationship based around hunting and survival. To make things more interesting, Chloe Moretz is in talks to star as the daughter. The La Times says The Rut "concerns a father-daughter relationship and centers particularly on hunting, as a daughter must learn [sic; I expect that should be 'use'] the tricks of hunting and archery taught to her by her father after said father goes missing." From that explanation, especially thinking of Moretz in the role, I get the sense of Kick-Ass mixed with Joe Wright's forthcoming Hanna. I want to know more about this one -- what's the intended tone, for example? All the Lat offers is that the film would take Kusama in a different direction from her previous movies.

Dinner For Schmucks Review

The delivery of a joke is just as important as the joke if not more so. We categorize comedy as “dry”, “blue”, “dark” etc. because the effectiveness of the joke differs depending on the delivery. It’s a simple concept and shouldn’t need stating, but someone should have told director Jay Roach when he signed on to do Dinner for Schmucks. The film is ostensibly a dark comedy about a man so desperate for a promotion that he’s willing to amuse his evil corporate superiors by humiliating a gullible stranger. Roach is an unremarkable director who has managed to be at the helm of major hits like the Austin Powers franchise and the first two Meet the Parents movies.

Producers Hope for Men In Black-Style Franchise from Creature Comic Adaptation Lore

Following Comic-Con 2009, the husband-and-wife comic book team of Ashley Wood (illustrator) and T.P. Louise (author) sold the rights to their World War Robot to mega-producer Jerry Bruckheimer. Not ones to break tradition, the week after SDCC 2010 brings news that their mythological creature graphic novel Lore is likewise on a path to the big screen. According to Heat Vision, Cory Goodman (Priest) and Jeremy Lott have signed on to write the screenplay.

The producers are reportedly hoping to kickstart a Men in Black-style franchise, swapping mythological beings for those of an extraterrestrial nature. Hit the jump for the official synopsis.

'Project Runway' - Season 8 premiere

Oh ma God, “Project Runway” is back, and not a moment too soon! I don’t know about you, but my life is just a little emptier without Tim Gunn cradling his chin and ordering shaky designers to make it work. I briefly contemplated buying some Liz Claiborne separates just to get my Tim fix, and then I got past it, in part because the brand is moving to JCPenney in August and it’s not really in stores right now, unless you count Liz Claiborne New York, which is only available on QVC, and I don’t shop QVC because it tends to »

Recap: 'Big Brother' Thursday - Could a big speech prevent elimination?

Because of the Television Critics Association press tour, my "to-watch" pile includes "Boardwalk Empire," the season premiere of "Sons of Anarchy" and more. Instead, I'm watching "Big Brother." HitFix's ace recapper Liane Bonin is only one person and she's got "So You Think You Can Dance" and "Project Runway" tonight. So with Liane indisposed, let's get to recapping.

Minute-by-minute countdown to elimination after the break!

8:02 p.m. I'm not sure that Andrew has really enlightened America about Orthodox Judaism. In fact, I think he's probably confused more than a few audience members. I'd kinda like for him to spend the next Sabbath at home before he starts doing serious harm. [I'm not saying that he's perpetuated any stereotypes himself, but he's gotten a mighty weird edit and I fear a lot of folks are going to interpret his "weirdness" as "Jewish weirdness." Just my own concern here...]

Pregnant Miranda Kerr will have 'a handsome baby', says Heidi Klum

Supermodel
Heidi Klum has said that fellow Victoria's Secret angel and soon-to-be-mum Miranda Kerr will not have any problem in balancing modeling with motherhood. The Aussie model and longtime beau Orlando Bloom
secretly married one month after announcing their engagement in June.

"I think she''ll be great!" Usmagazine.com quoted Klum as saying.

" She''s very calm, a smart little cucumber that one, and she''ll do just fine.

"She''s a beautiful young lady who just got married, and they seem like a handsome couple.

"They''ll make a handsome baby, that''s for sure!" Klum added.

Klum also gave Kerr a tip saying: "The children show you most of the time themselves what you have to do to. You''ll learn by watching them, keeping your eyes and ears open."

Klum is a mother of four children and has been married to husband for five years.

Leonardo DiCaprio 'pulls out of Mel Gibson flick'

In wake of Mel Gibson's domestic abuse scandal, 'Inception' star Leonardo DiCaprio has reportedly pulled out of the disgraced actor's next project.

DiCaprio was due to star in Gibson-directed flick about Vikings.

A source close to DiCaprio said the actor did not want to risk his reputation.

“Leo has earned the right to pick and choose who he works with, and Mel Gibson is not one of them,” the New York Post quoted a source as telling Radaronline.com.

DiCaprio, who is fascinated by Viking culture, was due to play one in the as-yet untitled project, which was due to begin filming in the fall.

Gibson’s Icon Productions and Graham King, who directed DiCaprio in ‘The Departed,’ were producing the movie.

The decision has come as a major setback for 54-year-old Gibson, who is facing allegations of domestic abuse and child endangerment by ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva.

Rice: 'I was bullied at school'

Rice has revealed that she was bullied at school.

The 22-year-old Australian swimmer, who won three gold medals at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, said that she found school "hard" because she was not slim like the other girls in her class.

Rice told New Idea magazine: "School was hard for me. I was always quite chubby, never the popular girl. I experienced the chubby calls and people making remarks like 'loser'. I was so shy and not confident in myself.

"It was fortunate I had swimming and a great group of swimming friends, so I had something else to get me through. It was great to have an escape.

"As hard as it was to go through, it makes you aware of how you treat people and it humbles you. I'm glad I went through it as it turned me into the person I am today and helped me relate to people."

Lindsay Lohan 'has no pillow in jail'

Lindsay Lohan
WENN
Lindsay Lohan's mother Dina has revealed that she does not get preferential treatment in jail.

The 24-year-old Mean Girls actress, who has been in a California prison since July 20 after being convicted of violating her probation conditions, apparently does not even have a pillow in her cell.

Dina told Radar: "She doesn't have cell phone privileges, that's absurd. She doesn't even have a pillow to sleep on.

"I talk to her through glass. There's a phone and we put her on speaker but I can't even hug my daughter... She's treated like a common criminal.

"I have to say that the people inside have been pretty cool to her... the guards and the inmates."

Drew Carey: How I Lost 80 Lbs.

Drew Carey has been known as a loveable, teddy-bear type as far back as his long-running sitcom The Drew Carey Show. But, he says, being big was a burden – and he had to make a change.

"It sucks being fat, you know," Carey, 52, said Wednesday at the CBS, Showtime and The CW TCA Party in Beverly Hills. "I was diabetic with Type-2 diabetes.”

Not anymore. After Carey embarked on a strict regime, shaving his diet of carbohydrates and hitting the gym religiously, he dropped 80 lbs. since January and says, "I'm not diabetic anymore. No medication needed."
