Cole 'wants to fight malaria outbreak'

Cheryl Cole is planning on raising money to stem the spread of malaria in Africa following her brush with the disease.

The X Factor judge was reportedly hours from death after contracting the tropical illness during a trip to Tanzania in June, and now intends to help other sufferers on the continent once she has made a full recovery.

A friend of Cole's told Music News: "Cheryl wants to raise money for mosquito nets and better medicines across the worst-affected regions of Africa.

"After hitting such a terrible physical low, she has come to realise just how awful the disease is and how lucky she has been to receive the best medical care."

Cole is currently recuperating at home after being discharged from hospital just over a week ago. It was revealed today that she refused a recent request from estranged husband Ashley to visit her while she makes her recovery.

Malaria-stricken Cheryl Cole 'to take nurse to 'X Factor'

Cheryl Cole will have a specialist malaria nurse on hand when she goes back to work, it has emerged.

The 'X Factor' judge is still recuperating after being struck down with malaria.

And she has apparently hired the nurse to be on hand for at least a year.

The Girls Aloud beauty is desperate to return to the hit ITV1 show in time to pick her finalists for the 'judges' homes' stage of the competition.

She is also due to take up a similar role on the US version of the show next year.

And with a tour with Girls Aloud expected next year, there's no way she's going to risk her health.

So she's is said to have organized for the medic to accompany her wherever she goes.

"Cheryl knows she must have someone on hand at all times in case she is struck down by malaria again," the Daily Star quoted a source close to the star as saying.

"Once you've contracted the tropical disease it lives on in your red blood cells and it's not uncommon for it to return.

"Cheryl is fully aware of this and is determined that once she is fighting fit she will take all the precautions she needs.

"Having a nurse to watch over her 24-7 will ensure that if anything should happen she'll be aware of it immediately. She can't wait to get back to work

but she realizes that she has to be sensible.

"There's talk of a Girls Aloud tour next year and the nurse will be like an extra member of the band," the source added.

Ex-couple Price, Andre voted most boring public figures

A survey conducted by men's online magazine AskMen UK has voted Katie Price and her ex-husband Peter Andre as the most boring public figures that people are tired of hearing about.

Price topped with 51 percent of votes in the Great Male survey as being the female public figure people were most tired of hearing about, leaving behind eccentric singer Lady Gaga and Malaria-stricken Cheryl Cole at second and third positions, respectively.

"For many British guys, Katie Price represents everything they'd want to avoid in a partner. For a number of men, her apparent harsh treatment of ex-husband Peter Andre makes her bad relationship material and her constant craving for attention would seem to be a huge personality turn off," femalefirst.co.uk quoted Andrew Lubega, editor of AskMen UK - who commissioned the survey - as saying.

In the male category, the 7,000 people surveyed placed Katie's ex-husband Peter in the top spot, closely followed by "Twilight" actor Robert Pattinson.

Golfer Tiger Woods, music mogul Simon Cowell
and England soccer star John Terry filled the rest of the top five slots.

The Great Male survey quizzed respondents on a range of topics, including use of technology, political preferences, favourite television shows
and celebrity crushes.
